Something caused a possum to drop a load of leaves on the way to the critter hole. This one decides to add it to the tail-full they are already carrying so we get to see the loading process.

A new contestant has entered (or in this case exited) the ongoing battle for ownership of the Critter Hole.

This armadillo worked for three hours last night hauling fresh Fall leaves to the Critter Hole.

It finally rained here last night and this poor opossum got caught out. Unfortunately the Critter Hole is already occupied by an armadillo who planned better.

I'm no David Attenborough but my observations of armadillos leads me to conclude that a fast chase equals a territorial dispute. A slow chase means the two armadillos will eventually join up to create more armadillos. Also I need to pull that camera and clean the crap off it!

A feral kitty investigates the Critter Cam. We have a feral cat feeding station in the community to attempt to tame them enough to trap and spay/neuter. It seems hopeless because people drop off unwanted animals out here in the country all the time.

The outfacing Critter Cam is back in operation. The possum chewed through two straps of duct tape, chewed through the silicone rain cover, removed the camera and tape from the brick and rolled / dragged it about 5 feet from the original location.

Some new little faces at the water pans last night.

We’re talking about why native plants matter and how to plant them in the city tonight at the Olde Richmond Civic Association meeting. Gave out zines and seeds and worksheets and it was cute! Nice things are still possible in this shitty timeline of ours.

What’s happening in the yard? You know, regular stuff… Caterpillar’s taking selfies & Squirrel’s sitting on the porch gnawing a bone😄

Something about the camera attracts bugs (infrared light maybe?) so the armadillo often stops to do a little digging for a snack on its way to or from the Critter Hole. So far it hasn't buried the camera, but it is certainly capable of doing so.

I don't think this feral kitty will be able to handle either of the creatures that are likely to emerge from the Critter Hole.

The armadillo still controls the Critter Hole. A second armadillo has made a home under the shed. Possum stopped by, took a quick sniff of the hole, and moved on.
