Not thrilled about the mosquitos 🦟🦟 but very excited to be heading back to Abisko this summer to start the field season in a month!

Excited to be all confirmed for the 2025 SAFE field season! We will be spending 6 weeks out and about across the Fennoscandia Arctic treeline looking at all things trees and shrubs 🌲🌳🛰️📏 Our team of three will be going out to Abisko, Sweden first and then departing for Norway and Finland!

Finally recovered from a full on 3 days of all things arctic vegetation science at the CAVSI workshop! Great to meet loads of other ECR’s working on similar things and looking forward to the next steps #ASSW2025

We started fieldwork last summer in Abisko, Sweden where we sampled an elevational gradient from the forest edge but missed out on getting to the treeline edge!

Throwback to spending 3 weeks sampling around Kevo, Finland as part of my 1st field season for SAFE which was very kindly funded by INTERACT TA and helped by the lovely @thale.bsky.social Also learnt that 30’C was possible at 70N! 😱😱

This work is lead by @millicentharding.bsky.social and is her PhD work at Durham University across Biosciences and Geography The first field season of this work was funded by INTERACT Transnational Access, the Andrew Croft Memorial Fund, and the Alpine Garden Society
