Over the weekend I published a column about how we should all watch Nightcrawler, especially if you haven't before. It's a great film about media and, as a bonus, is full of delightful LA cinematography.

This guy killed higher education in WI. With no educational experience, he was put into the top spot thanks to a committee of dolts (including the UWM provost at the time). Funny that nobody mentions how he killed tenure by allowing the needless firing of dozens of UWM faculty without severance…

This won’t help regarding a number of questions about foreign interest in US Media. They say no board seats, but influence comes in many forms.

Time to revisit this gem, which has zoomed back into relevance.

When you visit Alcatraz, or if you read any books on its history, you learn that the salt air has caused many problems to the buildings on the island. It would need a complete rebuild, meaning destroying historic buildings to build a monstrosity. Just like the ballroom debacle.

Sure, The Wizard of Oz at The Sphere kind of introduces classic cinema to new audiences, but what they are seeing is not classic cinema. It's gimmicky quasi classic cinema reformatted for modern audiences. The Ambersons restoration story is curious, but maybe we can just let history have it.

Forgot to post my MovieWeb news story earlier, but Oliver Stone is back with a film that appears to be quite different from his usual politically charged fare. Also, it stars Josh Hartnett.

This is great. I still feel like Meta and Google will just settle their way out of similar trials going forward because money is no hurdle for them, but still, it's good to see some accountability in an era defined by reckless abandonment of rules and laws.

Big win, but $375m is nothing for Zuck so he'll just pay and move on. They'll keep paying in similar lawsuits, or settling because it's easy and cost-effective. The film Thank You For Smoking comes to mind here...
