I know it's a weird question on here, but like...have any of you been a successful (whatever your version of that is) indie author without much if any social media presence? Even people who share most of my views here talk about things that trigger my mental illness and trauma.

There are three sort of half-gods. There used to be five before the Apostasy. Now only one is left, and he has far less power (he also isn't worshipped anymore, not formally). A piece of another god's essence is still left in a pair of magic items. And there's a human who's amassed godlike power.

I guess I'll jump on this train cuz I'm plotting this month anyway. Teen Titans and New Mutants were huge inspirations. The main city, Bastion, has a lot of Urithiru vibes from Stormlight, but the continent outside it is dark and shattered like a lot of FromSoft worlds. #PlotTober

1/? Something I've noticed is that the right (and center) seems to believe problems are eternal. Not all problems, but many. We can't prevent homelessness, we have to persecute it. We can't prevent assault, we have to persecute it. Etc. While the left mostly believes problems don't have to exist.

Finished plotting Act 2 for #FirstDraftFall! Halfway through plotting, which means like 3/4 of the way through planning. This story is gonna be FUN to write.

We're trying to solve what's entirely a consumption problem with only innovation. Not that innovation can't help, but the truth is that innovation AND sustainability have to meet partway. And solutions have to be sustainable for the environment and for people. Can't help one by exploiting the other.

My #FirstDraftFall project is gonna be the first book in a series! Some of the books will hopefully be able to be read in a variety of orders, but there will be a few big milestone books that will advance the story and the world significantly (just like other superhero stuff).

#FirstDraftFall I should probably finish plotting act 2 of Hearthlings. I already did a bit of revision for Rootfall to make one of the characters seem more realistically competent. So much of revision is just making minor tweaks to so everything lines up just so.

#AwesomeCharacters Most of the Hearthlings (my teen fantasy superheroes) have never been outside their home city, which is magically climate controlled. The one who has, Ainsley, is happy to never again go through frostbite or heatstroke in the harsh seasons of the Profaned.

#QueerPrompts Hi, I'm Emily! I write YA epic fantasy, often with minimal romance. I'm querying Rootfall, an adventure in a Norse myth-inspired world where the characters have to climb the World Tree and replace the dead gods. I'm planning a project that's basically epic fantasy Teen Titans.

I just wanna be in a community of queer, poly, accepting families who radically support each other. Is that too much to ask? 🥺

The most important thing to me is Hopefully Ever After -- the idea that a story ends on a hopeful note even if it isn't a perfect or cheerful one. Heck, everything can turn to crap, so long as the story suggests the crap could fertilize what's next. 1/2

So far only 1.5 out of 6 beta readers have given me feedback on this round of Rootfall edits, but thanks to my writing group helping with the prologue and ch 1-3, I'm in a great place for the next round of queries. I wish I had just a bit more feedback on the second half though.

I'm 85% sure I'm gonna DNF Silksong. It's great for what it is, but what it is is painfully, repetitively hard. I was fine with that for the first act and a half, but I just burned out on long runbacks into punishing fights. And it isn't an RPG so exploring more only does so much.

As someone on the spectrum, I can tell you, people don't want unapologetically weird, they want socially acceptable quirky.

Okay, I'm mostly alive now. Still depresso but it isn't as big. Getting excited about my fantasy superhero project :) I think I'm actually gonna plot it out before I write it. For once.

Autistic and ADHD writers, how do you handle rejection? Especially if you have some form of rejection sensitivity? I can mostly deal with rejections that have a reason, but the featureless, impersonable wall of a firm rejection sends me spinning. #booksky #writesky

Form rejections are callous and the entire query/submission/rejection process is dehumanizing.

I know I've been gone. Warden's Curse flopped and depression has been dragging me down (mostly unrelated). I'll be back if/when I start feeling better.
