I’d say in the kingdom the story is set in, it’s fairly common to be anything other than heterosexual, though existing misogyny does cause phobia in some people. Most don’t care who others are attracted to though, gender-wise. Especially in the capital, closer to the palace (the King dgaf).

Ember previously had a fwb relationship in his early 20s. His bi awakening, and they’re now a sort of crime boss😨 He also had an ex-wife at some point- though tbh I may change both of these, just cause all the other OCs are pretty outdated💔 and I don’t like how I wrote them 😿

KoA isn’t at all connected to real life, so their languages wouldn’t actually resemble ours at all, realistically. But it’s also entirely fictional- so Ember is fluent in English and Spanish, while Cal knows English and a bit of Spanish :)

They’ve likely clashed the most over how responsible they are for their kingdom. A reoccurring argument. How much should they sacrifice for the kingdom if they can’t save everyone? When should they draw the line for their own sakes? How much does this place deserve when it was cruel to them, too?

i know it's easy to throw yourself under the bus by saying "haha ew my art sucks" before anyone else does, but self deprecation will only get you so far. its an easy out to be the first person to criticize yourself, but that kind of negativity will only drive people away.

I think Ember would keep trying- but only if it’s a goal that someone else depends on. He often doesn’t eat himself considering his own goals or wants while serving as Captain. Cal’s only goals are to stay wealthy and keep the three people he cares for safe. It’s the only reason he sticks around.

Ember There are other trans OCs in the story/world he’s from. I’ve just never really mentioned them very much, because almost every other character needs a revamp⚰️

I’d say no Cal fell first, a decade ago, but never confessed. When Ember left to be in the military, Cal’s trust issues got worse. He loves him but keeps him at arms length. Knowing he will get hurt again if he trusts the man with something so raw and intimate. Ember was just too obsessed with work
