A great item at the British Library exhibition was this beautiful manuscript page decorated by Jeanne de Montbaston. Jeanne was an early 14th century Parisian illuminator who worked in partnership with her husband and as a solo artist. We only know her name because she outlived him -

The #jug to the left is about 500 years old. It was probably made in a 16th century #pottery in #köln. The belly is decorated with an oak leaf and acorn pattern. I'm working on a #replica that is now drying. The replica will shrink a bit during the second firing, that's why it's a bit bigger.

I'm working on a medieval stag for hand washing. This "aquamanile" is not yet fired so he will get his final color and glaze later. I'm working from a 14th century original in the Victoria and Albert museum. It's in the last picture. Parts of the antlers and both hind legs are missing.
