Successfully using the scanline interrupt to turn off sprites half way down the screen. And I didn't even cry this time! The game still crashes sometimes because my NPC loader freaks out when there are no NPCs actually in the room.

After 3 or so [truncated] programming sessions, I got NPCs loaded and positioned on the screen. I also have mechanisms in place for determining which NPC you are interacting with. There are still problems with rooms with no NPCs getting loaded and poking into SRAM. #dinosaurs #gamedev #gameboy

TEMU, a Game Boy emulator for the ZX Spectrum +2a/+3 capable only of running a Tetris ROM. 9 CPU instructions had to be implemented via emulation, the rest are executed directly. Other resources are spent on graphics & sound. Spectrum's CPU runs slower than Game Boy's. (Real hardware capture)

I could wish my games did better numbers, but I know that's not what it's about. It wouldn't allow me to quit my normal people job one way or the other, so I may as well just lean into creative expression.

in assembly, you have to figure out how to make your own objects. I did this for the enemies in Nocptern, but here I'm making a more general use player/NPC system. Simply multiply the actor number by however many bytes are in your "object" and add the specific variable number you defined elsewhere.
