I’ve been messing about with the simplest ImageMagick scripts again. magick "$file" -threshold 25% -fill white +opaque black "${file%.*}bw25.gif" Sort of thing. Changing the threshold repeatedly. A few more on Flickr. I am not sure why I like these but I do.

Getting to be a bit of a butterfly blog. Walked the RSPB site at Ardmore last Tuesday. Highish tide & a strong breeze. The path was often protected by windward bushes. Lots of small tortoiseshells & some painted ladies basking. Devils-bit scabious flowering. Some whites too, mainly green-veined.

Possible causes of your problems. It’s a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.
