Look it’s me! Knitting! Hallway duty and various supervising of youth last week gave me the opportunity to get back into it again, one of many of the benefits I took away from a week of volunteering as a Group Leader for Forum For Young Canadians.

I got to deliver a brand new version of my Data Art workshop to this lovely crew today. They engaged so thoughtfully with all of the activities and discussions and I’ve never seen this level of concentration during the project portion 😍 it’s a true delight every time I get to do it!!

If there’s one thing I know it’s that our crew is resilient. If we hit the wall once in a while it’s because “resilience” isn’t supposed to be a muscle you need to flex all the time without pause for years on end, yet that’s what we’ve been doing. Of course we can’t keep it up indefinitely.

A fun fact: my family immigrated to Canada from Taiwan in 2003 because my grandpa who fought in the Chinese Civil War wanted the next generation to live without the looming threat of invasion 🤷🏻‍♀️
