For folks who struggle with motivation, committing to making a comic also creates a framework for A: keeping you interested in the work (you're telling a story about characters you care about) and B: a deadline/end point to work to (write a script with X # of pages, work til all the pages are done)

This is why, if you're wanting to do comics, it's far more important to practice drawing comics than it is to practice drawing. The drawing comes with time and you get the time by getting opportunities to make comics, you get those opportunities by demonstrating storytelling.

I want a break from work ➡️ I want to draw instead ➡️ the last time I drew I struggled with anatomy, I want to do anatomy studies ➡️ *looks at an anatomical diagram for five seconds* damn that's so tedious, I don't want to do that ➡️ maybe I should just go back to work ➡️ but I don't waaanna do my work ⤴️

This coming Labour Day weekend is my 26th anniversary with comics! I started making webcomics in 1999 & have drawn comics ever since. To celebrate I redrew the VERY FIRST PAGE of my old webcomic, Demonology 101 (1999-2004), which I also redrew around 2001 or so. Here are the 3 pages!
