A few days ago, the crew of the Nadir rescued people from a boat in distress. Among them were individuals in acute medical danger – a child with severe dehydration, people suffering from fuel burns, and trauma from hours adrift at sea. The legal duty to help does not end at Europe’s borders.

The Atlantic escape route is one of the deadliest in the world. While crossings in the Mediterranean are decreasing, more and more people are trying to reach Europe via the Atlantic Ocean.

Fascism did not disappear. It persists in new forms: in racist border regimes, in the criminalisation of people on the move. Anti-fascism means never being neutral in the face of injustice. It means fighting for a world where dignity, safety and freedom are not privileges but rights.
