Anne Brontë was born on this day 1820 in Thornton, Bradford. For decades the youngest Brontë was seen as the quiet, conventional one, but she is often now viewed as the most radical of the sisters, writing about tough subjects.

Today I gave my final performance of my one-woman play #JaneAusten: Who Dares to be an Authoress in this gala year of celebrations for Austen’s 250th birthday! It’s been joyful to spend this year celebrating the work of a woman whose words have brough laughter and comfort to people around the world.

There is no better way to spend a snowy afternoon than doing research and writing at #TheBostonAthenaeum. It’s so good to be home and back to my old routine in these wonderful spaces, even if only for a few days.
