If this bothers you, I presume you can mitigate it somewhat by ensuring your thumbnail stays edge-on to the sun with a very slight rotation to allow for the relative displacement of the earth & sun in that 9 minute trip. The storms and tornadoes north of me yesterday evening had a VERY visible hail radar reflection shadow; turns out to be ~6” hail (onljne pic below). Reminded of the Henryville storms from 2012, where hail blew holes thru walls & ceilings of the houses that weren’t destroyed by the tornado itself.
