Next Sallow Moth album at 99% done. Waiting on one thing. Very stoked for it. This was mostly written and recorded last April/May. Then drums tracked in December. Main influences on it were Mortal Decay, Deeds of Flesh, Wormed, Atheist, Cephalic Carnage, Biolich, Afterbirth.

Maybe the most underrated album I’ve ever made. But super fun. Sandwiched between a blackened death album and a blackened nu album, its colorful nature kind of got lost between promotional periods

Very sad to hear about Itso Vegan closing. I think for the past 6 yrs we never went a month without getting Itso. Oftentimes getting it at least once a week. Their food was incredible and a comfort . My last meal from them is my fav, the Country Fried Chik’n dinner.

Kayo Dot played an incredible performance. Interesting setlist. Xasthur was alright, but the surreal factor seeing him up on stage was cool. The sound was way too quiet though. His acoustic and his backing track. Baring Teeth were excellent and locked in as always.

Got the blessing from Allen about my latest mix of the upcoming Sallow Moth album. I haven’t worked with a drummer in my own music in about 6-7 years, so it’s been a longer, but rewarding mix process getting feedback from him and how he’d like his drums to sound.

Staying warm and inside all weekend mixing stuff

This weather’s ironically good for thwarting my 7 days a week driving. I get to have continuity mixing this next Sallow Moth album. Going for a mix that’s huge in the low end like Theurgy and Wormed’s Exodromos but not quite the sub kick level. More focus on midrange/clarity. Sounding sick so far.

Got news that the second pressing for Sallow Moth ‘Mossbane Lantern’ has sold out. Pretty sweet. It’s wild that the original label didn’t consider it worthy of a vinyl release or tentative at best. So thank you for the support. Definitely my most successful album.

This sort of happened with Mossbane Lantern’s album process. I had probably 7-8 iterations of what that album could have sounded like before the final one. Lot of 2-4 week intervals where I took time away from it at a time. Think I’m closing in on this next one though.

My delivery schedule has been so jampacked to the point I’m not getting the continuity I want in my workflow with music. I’ve been cherry-picking my free time mixing this next Sallow Moth album. But I can’t get a solid one off day to listen through in one sitting yet. Been driving me crazy.

My resolution this year is to schedule more days off. I worked something like 330 out of 365 days last year delivering flowers. Was 7 days a week for a while. It was a tricky balance to pick my spots to maximize any of that free time for music. Writing/mixing/social media.

New comments on these 2 EPs from November I just noticed. Two very different EPs that you could consider as booster packs to Mossbane Lantern. Definitely a huge early Cryptopsy influence on the 2nd EP, but much weirder toolbox.

Got to try this place Vegan Heat since they moved closer. Been having my eye on this UBE Waffle Chicken Sandwich (fried Enoki mushrooms as the protein) with Ube Coconut syrup along with Jalapeño Havarti Mac. Very good. Big portions. This sandwich is HUGE. I got it made spicy too.

Finished the debut for my goregrind project Lureplasm. Just short of 20 mins at 16 tracks. Awaiting cover art and currently submitting to labels. Next up: mixing Allen’s drums in for the next Sallow Moth album 🔥
