Assessment of artefacts found during metal detecting in 2018 at #Stoneacre has recently been completed by finds specialist Luke Barber. A rare survival from Roman Britain, this is the iron hinge pivot from one of the wooden gates in the walls of ancient Canterbury (Durovernum Cantiacorum) that was excavated in the city's Ridingate in 1986. Iron nail found nearby suggest that the gates were 14cm thick. #FindsFriday
