Between bad laws like this one (even if they may be meant in good spirit) and de facto censorship by credit card companies, like... it's one of greatest external problems to our business.

Yeah no: Alberta gov't claims to allay school book ban concerns by revising order to clarify that won't apply to a "written passage", just a "visual depiction" – in other words, only graphic novels and manga are targeted. Targeted books for removal include Gender Queer and Fun Home.

Today's Supreme Court rulings include two that will have an impact on graphic novels, at least indirectly. The Mahmoud case re classroom opt-outs for objectionable material could further affect the market for oft-challenged graphic novels and manga.
