Check out Coral-Mae's (age 9) felt plover, inspired by the Pacific Golden Plover. This submission comes all the way from The Crags, South Africa! Golden Plover chicks are born in the arctic tundra amongst the thawing ice and thriving plant life looking like moss puffs. #PAD2025

Where in the world are your Chicago Piping Plovers? El was the last to be observed in Chicago and that was on August 17. Now, we await reports of sightings from wintering grounds although no sightings is not cause for alarm as Imani, Sea Rocket, and Pippin have proven. 1/3

Look at this 3.5 week old Hooded Plover chick! Captured by BirdLife Australia's Dr Grainne Maguire on Kangaroo Island, South Australia. It's still got some down feathers on it's back and tail, and in a few days, it will have lost all its down. Takes 5 weeks to reach flying age!
