Also years ago I have actually seen a Chinese fan on Weibo translate An Zhe's name as "Angel" (don't ask me to find it my acc got frozen). Which is also a choice and one actually I don't mind either as it hammers in the biblical themes. Though I personally prefer "Ange" lol

I personally don't see the issue with Anzhe as the Base has a mixed-race population and is set in a world where countries haven't existed in years, so names don't have to follow traditional cultural naming conventions. Doubly so since he is a mushroom who has no concept of surnames

As a translator, I think a lot about how reading is an act of interpretation, and thus every translation is necessarily one person's interpretation of the text. You can't help but process the words/images on the page through your lived experiences.

Albert's sassy narration is just so fun to translate. I TLed this chapter on the side over the 2 years I was TLing Adultery Agreement and you can really see how Towei's narrators have such distinct voices even if they have overlapping traits (i.e. Liu and Albert both being very horny 😆)
