Driver & Fireman for the Leakbeck line. Montgomery Rose and Frederick Booker are a close-knit pair. Rose hales from Carlisle but his stories of the NBR likened him to Scotland. Booker lived in the valley his whole life and learned to drive locos but stayed a fireman. 🎨by @arytniver.bsky.social

Travelling down the harbour branch in the 1940s, No.1 "BRIGITTE" hauls a train of loaded vans and open wagons loaded with product from the billiam quarry. Never seeing passengers, the line that ran between houses was never kept free of weeds and made some believe the engine was off on a jolly.
