Today's commit history show a hilarious spiral of trying to implement a simple feature. Thankfully I have the weekend to flush all the cortisol from my brain and try again on Monday.

As the Texas outbreak grows, how contagious is measles, really?
Vaccination eliminated measles from the U.S. 25 years ago. But it can still spread in pockets where vaccination rates are low, like the west Texas county with a current outbreak. Here's how fast.

Terrific example of how US health is intertwined w/ the rest of the globe. "Seasonal flu vaccines need to be updated each year bc the virus changes so frequently. As a public health employee, I am biased, but I think this article does a great job of highlighting the value of the work we do:

The importance of microbiology reference laboratories and adequate funding for infectious disease surveillance
Microbiology reference laboratories perform a crucial role within public health systems. This role was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this Viewpoint, we emphasise the importance of microbiology reference laboratories and highlight the types of digital data and expertise they provide, which benefit national and international public health. We also highlight the value of surveillance initiatives among collaborative international partners, who work together to share, analyse, and interpret data, and then disseminate their findings in a timely manner.
