The entire grid is known as a “Tonnetz”, as explained in Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonnetz
— except that unfortunately my convention (and JCB's) is up-down-symmetric wrt the one used in the Wikipedia illustration. 🤷 •8/19

Buttons are back. Knobs are back. Dumb devices are back. Own-it-forever software is back. Print is back. Personal websites and chronological feeds are back. Touching grass is back. People keep saying 2015, but it’s not far enough. The entire 2010s were a mistake. We must retvrn to… 2009.

It seems someone found a magnetic tape at the University of Utah that may contain the only surviving copy of version 4 of Unix Operating System from Bell Labs (circa 1973):

Kerstversiering laat live neutrino's in de Zuid-Franse diepzee zien - Nikhef

I really think at its heart philosophy is one giant battle, taking place over many eras and nations, between people who are basically pleasant bureaucrats and people who are sexy murder poets, and it’s both super important and super boring that the pleasant bureaucrats must win.

You only really notice how weird the Mercator projection is, when you include Antarctica. People tend to go on about Greenland being too big, but this is of a different order of magnitude ☺️

In one of his texts, Douglas Hofstadter suggests publishing a book called “Reviews of this Book” (you would first ask various reviewers to review the concept and collect their reviews into a book, then send them the result so they can update their reviews, and so on until a fixed point is reached).

What would be a good acronym for the axiom that the Shepherdson–Cohen model exists (like AC is an acronym for the axiom of choice, and V=L for the axiom of constructibility)? And what for ZF plus this axiom (like ZFC for ZF + AC)?

Happy holidays from Jólakötturinn, the Icelandic fairytale cat who eats you on Christmas morning if your clothes aren't nice! Nope, he's not a moral lesson about keeping your clothes clean. He's just a reminder of the ever-present potential for senseless violence in an unpredictable universe! Skål!
