My personal bias is the ideal form of art is middlebrow, meaning it has the accessibility of pop art but the depth and strangeness of high art. Shakespeare, Austen, Twain, etc. It seems like there have been times and places that encouraged this, but they are perhaps rare?

This is a very cool use of LLMs. But, the conclusion, that suddenly there will be a surge in LLM intelligence is not certain. I'm not confident one way or another. It just seems entirely plausible that there are upper limits on machine intelligence for reasons we just do not fully understand yet.

Here's the statement in Lean. How little can one get away with importing in order to prove this? Can it be proved by induction on max(l)-min(l) for example, avoiding the reals completely?

I answered a question on MathOverflow about the fruitfulness of considering the closeness-to-falsity of a given statement in mathematics.

Relations between the usefulness of a true statement, its closeness to falsity, and the difficulty of its proof
Let us start with a trivial observation: for any statements $A$ and $B$ (in a standard language), the implication $A\implies B$ is true if $A$ is false. So, if one were able to prove a false statem...

More fresh new images from METimage! The Severe Storms RGB helps spot dangerous thunderstorms fast by showing what’s happening at the tops of clouds. It combines data on moisture, light, & heat to reveal where tall, icy storm clouds are building - a sign of hail, strong winds, & lightning ahead.
