Appreciate that the new Planescape books sidestep worrying about retconning Torment by setting the book before the events of the game. You get a few returning faces, where they should be. Even meet Morte who is just waiting for The Nameless One. Good thing that Torment doesn’t have a set year.

Starfield does have decent side quests, even if the world doesn’t react to them as much as I’d like. Take the Freestar Rangers questline. A criminal kills a doctor aboard a hospital station and no one notices. And when you find this out you can’t tell anyone at all? No one acknowledges it.

God Starfield’s treatment of Earth blows. I really wish they had a better explanation for why it’s a blown out hellscape. There really should be way more ruins. Legitimately it looks like humans unleashed every nuclear weapon right after leaving.

Hey Starfield Spoilers. Can we talk about how multiverse theory being included in the game fully kills the idea of a vast galaxy to explore, absolutely murders PC to NPC relationships, and locks a “happy ending” behind abandoning your own universe for a new one? It really sucks.

Going from Baldurs Gate to Starfield is going from one different vibe of open ended gameplay to another. I like both a lot! I’m honestly very surprised Starfield is running so stable at release. Had like one noticeable bug over 7 hours.
