Over the past decade, we've nearly doubled the miles of bike lanes—and Capital Bikeshare stations—across Washington, DC. It's the 15th anniversary of Capital Bikeshare: a great reason to celebrate a green, clean, connected city.

My annual tweet saying @bikeshare.bsky.social was the best thing to happen to #bikedc. Provided easy access to bikes, removed traditional barriers to bike ownership, and gave many people their first taste at bike commuting. A lot of people riding their own bikes today got their start on CaBi!

Capital Bikeshare recorded 705,343 trips in July, an increase of 19.7% from July 2024. Annual ridership in 2025 is up 27.1% from the same time 2024.

Rain and heat waves didn’t stop 691,620 people from riding Capital Bikeshare in June, an 18% YoY increase. That’s a 107 ride drop-off from May but still an increase on a per day basis. Propelled by Pride, June 7 saw almost 28k rides!
