Final: Nats 6, Cardinals 1. Cade Cavalli looked good. Riley Cornelio looked good. They scored 5 runs with 2 outs in the 8th on only 2 hits. They remain undefeated this spring at 4-0-1.

Two impressive innings from RHP Riley Cornelio, who struck out 3 with a fastball that averaged 97 mph. He did, however, commit the latest in a string of E1's by the Nats pitching staff. All the PFP's apparently can't simulate real game situations.

Cade Cavalli needed only 24 pitches to complete 2 scoreless innings. Walked one, struck out one. Fastball averaged 97 mph.

Nats and Cards are underway on a 61-degree Tuesday evening in West Palm Beach. Cade Cavalli on the mound for his first start of the spring. James Wood in right field for the first time since his MLB debut.

Final: Nats 16, Marlins 8. Brady House homered twice. Nasim Nuñez singled, walked, got hit by a pitch, stole a base, made a nice play at short and challenged two strike calls. Miami's pitching staff was a disaster. The Nationals are 3-0 and lead the Grapefruit League.

Behind doubles from Ford, Ruiz and Hassell and THREE wild pitches from the Marlins reliever, the Nationals have opened up a 9-1 lead in the 5th.

Another Brady House homer. Another one to the same location in right-center. This one off a changeup from Evan McKendry.

James Wood and Robert Hassell collided on a routine flyball to left-center, neither hearing the other calling for it. Don't know what was more impressive: Wood somehow holding onto the ball, or Hassell someone surviving 6-foot-7 slamming into him.

Hello, Brady House. 3-run homer off the pitch clock in deep right-center off Sandy Alcantara. The wind is blowing that direction, but still a massive drive to cap a quality 7-pitch AB vs. one of the game's best.

Final: Nats 2, Astros 1. CJ Abrams doubled and drew a bases-loaded walk. Andrew Pinckney doubled and threw a laser from RF to 3B. Eli Willits popped up in his first spring training AB at age 18. Holden Powell walked the bases loaded in the 9th and escaped.

Willits worked the count full before popping out to center field on a 3-2 cutter from Sam Carlson, a 27-year-old righty who was at AAA last season.

Drew Millas just attempted the Nats' first ABS challenge. He had a very good reputation for this stuff at Triple-A ... but he got this one wrong. Pitch was 1/2-inch below the zone, called correctly by Tom Hanahan.
