For the 1st time in 20 years, I am going to be a game master again. I'm both excited and nervous. How did this seem so easy when I was 13?

This has turned out to be a much more entertaining read than I thought! Halfway through and currently reading John Jakes' grade C Conan rip-off, Brak the Barbarian, as he tries to save his life in a city under a curse. Fun stuff. #swordandsorcery

Two people who made a major impact on me were born on December 28: Stan Lee and Nichelle Nichols. As the face of Marvel Comics, Stan made me feel like I was a part of Marvel, and he shared an ideology that still resonates. As Uhura, Nichelle showed women could boldly explore the universe, too.

I miss hearing from Carrie, especially now. Think of what she would have said this year. Gone now 9 years.

Covid has dashed most of my plans for my time off, but I did get this wonderful collection of Roger Zelazny short stories as a gift, so when I am upright, I have it to read. (And yes, I did get my vaccine this year.)

In an already-bad week, this hurts. Bob Burns was the original Monster Kid, but more than that, he was a Gorilla-man, and a damn fine archivist. And a super nice guy.

We say goodbye to actor, filmmaker and activist Rob Reiner. A dedicated storyteller with sincerity that imbued his prolific work and the causes he believed in, Reiner’s heartfelt portrayal of the human condition reminds us of the power of film and its abilities to stay with us.

It was on this date in 1979 that a young me was thrilled to stand in line to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture. I was absolutely amazed to see the Enterprise and crew on the big screen. And I still love this film- but see the director's edition.

Very pleased with my book haul today! Found a new store, the Book Gallery in Mesa. Great covers- the Brunner one is insane! How abot the Barbarians and Black Magic anthology? And Space Vampires? Yep, that's the basis for Lifeforce!
