Flashed GrapheneOS on my pixel - having far less compatibility issues than I realized. Great job GrapheneOS team.

Had to get a new phone because my old one finally broke in a way I couldn't tolerate. Since I was switching anyway, I installed Graphene OS on the new one before transferring over. So far? No regrets. The adjustment from standard android has been so minimal. Loving the lack of AI bullshit.

If having to clean filthy and dusty new Vinyl pressings wasn't bad enough finding these elements still attached after QA and sealed is taking the piss...

Play Integrity API is the real example of abuse of monopolistic position and anticompetitive practise.

GrapheneOS so far has four advantages for me: - It's more private and secure than standard Android - It doesn't come with any Google apps pre-installed - I can reinstall Play Services and the Play Store as unprivileged apps, if i want to - It's not affected by the Developer Verification program

Trying to focus on the nice parts of having to switch phones: I can now use Godot anywhere :---) I went with a Pixel 10a and GrapheneOS. Except for one authentication app (Danske ID), everything works so far, including banking (Danske Bank) and NFC payments (MobilePay).

Some users have reported seeing a connection to www.gstatic.com when the device starts charging which is due to certificate transparency logs being fetched. We've been planning to review certificate transparency log updates for a while but hadn't gotten to it yet. We'll have our own approach soon.

Resolving most of Google's anti-competitive behavior with Android would be straightforward for regulators: ban the Google Mobile Services licensing model and require Google to make their apps and services work on any AOSP-based OS without privacy invasive access and massive control over the OS.

So.... I finally made the switch to an Android based platform by getting a Pixel 10 and brainwashing it with GrapheneOS. So far things have been going smooth, its a fun challenge to exit the Apple ecosystem. I love the new freedom though, it feels like my phone really belongs to me again xD

It must be said, team @grapheneos.org totally rocks.

We built an initial release of GrapheneOS based on Android 17 (2026061700) but aren't going to release it through our Alpha channel due to discovering a serious upstream bug. Android 17 broke support for sideloading updates via recovery unless the OS images are large enough to exhaust COW space.

Today is the official release day for Android 17. We've already fully ported GrapheneOS to Android 17 and are in the process of pushing the code to our public repositories. We're building a final official release based on Android 16 QPR2 today and we'll do an initial Android 17 release tomorrow.

oh nice, grapheneos lets you force cross sim calling even if your carrier disables it (i.e. in dual-SIM using the secondary SIM's number even when it's out-of-service via the primary SIM's internet connection)

whoop, my move away from big tech is pretty much complete! the last step was removing android from my phone and flashing @grapheneos.org, a privacy-focused alternative. there's a learning curve on it, but a solid community to help you out too the corpos are banished! damn the man! save the empire!

Be great to see support for @accrescent.app too with all the benefits it offers and none of the F-Droid technical debt and drawbacks.

GrapheneOS on the old Pixel 7 is doing great. I’ve just used it for a couple of hours and despite the battery use (which is typical of the Pixel 7) it’s always been smooth and reliable. Great OS. #grapheneos #pixel

It will be in Q1-2 2027 on Motorola, the proper phrasing really should be: "We need to get more OEMs to stop cutting corners on hardware security and enable full alternate OS support."
