It's summer, so my dad brain is always thinking about the next time I need to mow the lawn. It isn't stressful. It's just always there.

This week I showed my kids Mariners Revenge Song by The Decemberists, pausing throughout the song to explain all the plot points. Age appropriate? 🤷 But my 4 year old keeps asking for the "whale song" over and over now! 🐳

I have become a total bandwagon soccer fan during the World Cup. I know NOTHING about soccer outside of watching my 9 year old play a lot of games but I've really been having fun following World Cup things this year. ⚽

After picking up a replacement power cable for my 2012 MBA I just resetup Omarchy on it. I don't think I'll every be a Linux power user, but there's something about a computer that has less of an "agenda" that is just refreshing these days.

One minute you're trying to figure out what bars are still open at 2am, the next you're gardening while listening to podcasts. And it's awesome.

Aaaaand I just spent a bunch of time today composing original background music for my kid's talent show video. Which, I'm sure, was absolutely necessary.

Last week the urge to find a new video game overtook me. I landed on Cult of the Lamb and I'm almost disturbed by how much I'm enjoying it.

Eileen: "I'm going to make chicken soup tonight. Can you get it started by boiling the chicken in water, chop up some veggies, add them, and then season it?" Me: "You're not making soup! You're trying to vibe cook soup!"

I prefer my coffee shop coffee in a paper cup rather than my own reusable mug. I know this makes me a bad person, but there's nothing I can do about it. ☕

Coding agents are pretty great for projects where my first assessment is that they'd be more trouble than they're worth.

I haven't done any TypeScript outside of React projects at work, so I wasn't sure what the workflow for "just write a small program to run in the terminal" would be. I ended up just using Bun ( bun.com ) and everything was really smooth!
