Our new preprint‼︎ We investigated how structural variants are shared across divergent Atlantic salmon lineages, and show that broadly shared SVs reflect distinct evolutionary histories, including ancient persistence, recurrent emergence, and lineage-specific frequency change.

It feels like I am only now starting to understand "how to write a paper". Nine years after finishing my PhD (!!). Perhaps it does not usually take researchers this long, but that is where I seem to be.

Grant: Received a rejection notice for the same project for the fourth time—is this a record? Is anyone still out there?

Four manuscripts to revise 😵‍💫

I received a minor revision for the first time, and this is also my first single-author paper. The editor’s comments were positive, and since I tend to lack confidence chronically, (rare) moments like this are genuinely very encouraging.

Ok now we have something to post finally! Using RNA-seq originally designed for Atlantic salmon host transcriptomics, we detected microbial mRNA collected before a disease outbreak. It revealed early microbial shifts linked to survival outcomes. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
