In #MathsToday I've got some students who are struggling with questions like this. Does anyone know where I can find a bank of them for them to practice with?

In #MathsToday a student was answering a vectors question in an Integral topic test that asked them to find the eqn of the line of intersection of planes. There is nothing on this in the textbook or in the spec that I can see. Does anyone know if it has/could come up in the exams?

In #mathstoday I received an email saying I can now login to Pearson's ActiveHub. Does anyone who currently uses ActiveLearn know whether I need to move students over now or whether it can wait until the new school year when I'm adding a new cohort anyway?

#MathsToday we have a visually impaired student who uses an ipad. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the calculator on an ipad to give exact answers in terms of pi or as surds or fractions rather than decimals?

In #MathsToday we were discussing the new (but not new new) Casio calc and I seem to remember there was an issue with using shift EXE with ANS as it did something wrong or unexpected. Can anyone remember what it was? It definitely wasn't giving the same ans as when we just pressed EXE with ANS

In #MathsToday a y10 student got very excited cos there was a man on a mini digger working outside. I pointed out that he wasn't 4 so should be past the excitement of seeing different vehicles. His response, but Miss it's a mini digger!! We had to close the blinds 🤦 I didn't share his excitement!!

#MathsToday does anyone know of a basic numeracy package that monitors progress, diagnoses gaps etc that could be used with KS3/4? If it could be run by a non specialist even better.

#MathsToday @ecrmaths.bsky.social @aqaeducation.bsky.social in last year's CM paper students were asked to rep the data from a grouped freq table in a suitable diagram. Previous years CF graph, histogram or freq poly all accepted. This time only CF or hist in m/s. Any reason why not a freq poly?

I have a y12 student who is struggling with moments in physics. I don't teach mechanics so don't know how different what they do in physics is to what they will do in y13 maths. Does anyone know of any great resources I can direct him to to help him get his head round it? TIA

#MathsToday I have a couple of questions. Does anyone know a calculation I can type into a fake calculator to prove to a student it is giving wrong answers? Secondly, has anyone changed how they teach trig now we know they get a formula sheet, to use a, b, c rather than h, a, o to match the sheet?

I’ve just got home for a meal out. There was music playing. One song was let it snow, we decided it wasn’t specifically for Christmas just wintery so let it go. Then Rocking around the Christmas Tree came on. It is still September!! Too early!!

@EdexcelMaths with this updated guidance from JCQ please can you not schedule GCSE Nov exams 48 hours apart as it gives us no time to discuss topics with the students before the next exam

#mathstoday when teaching plans & elevations we draw a line across if there is a change of direction on the face. do you teach them to draw a dotted line if there is a change of direction on the opposite face, so could only be seen if the shape was transparent? No mention in spec or Edexcel SOW

Hi Matt, would it be possible to add a few things on LWB? I'm looking for questions like 1.35 x 48. I can only find ones with 0.something, expanding brackets like 2x^2(3x-7) so a power as a factor and using a calc when it’s a bit harder, when it involves trig in a fraction or powers or both,thanks

#mathstoday is anyone aware that you can't request a review of marking if the student received special consideration? I've been told this today but can't see anything about it on Edexcel's website

Not long ago someone posted an alphabet created by chatgpt or similar with corresponding words and it contained many mistakes, there has also been a maths formula sheet, again full of errors. Can anyone remind me who posted them?

#AlevelMaths How did anyone download their Edexcel A level results? Last year I downloaded a file with 1 row per student with the score from each paper & grade. There wasn't such an option this year on Edexcel Online so each student had 5 rows which wasn't user friendly! Did I miss something?

#AlevelMaths does anyone know when the Edexcel A level Maths examiners reports will be available? I can't see them on the Emporium or on the website where the padlocked resources are and I can't see a release date for them - only GCSE ones. It was 4th August last year so I would expect them by now

#mathstoday did your school give out results in person today? Ours get them via email still (changed during covid) and I hate it. So inpersonal, I like being there to celebrate with them or offer support and reassurance if needed. Sending them an email just isn't the same

In #mathstoday I found out we're going to be teaching some children remotely next year as they aren't in school for various reasons. Does anyone know of a "remote whiteboard" kind of system where we can see what they are writing and they can also see what we're writing. They will have tablets.

In #mathstoday we now have to give a strength and an improvement following assessments when reporting to parents. Anyone got any suggestions for how we can do this without it being VERY time consuming for y12 and y13 maths, FM and core maths
