This day, so far, went better than usual. At work, I had one of those moments that remind me why I like working in IT, even though they have been kind of rare lately. I had to set up a maintenance page for a portal, and someone from the customer side proposed to embed a simple game, which I did.

I used my lunch break to finally order some film. I wanted to get a faster film to have more flexibility, but I found a deal on a roll of APX 100 (basically Kentmere 100), from what I've read I can push it to 400 no problem. Also bought some HC-110, I'm curious to try it having always used Rodinal

Also the coffee seems to help. I tried in January to limit my caffeine intake, I ended up being a zombie for a few weeks. Last week I went back to my usual habit of drinking an espresso for breakfast, and now I feel more aware during the day.

3 hours into my work week, sometimes I feel like about a quarter of my time is spent babysitting people technically more educated than me while they run T-SQL queries. Could be worse, at least I don't work in a coal mine or in a factory.

Anyway this is the camera I went on a walk yesterday to try. It's my 2nd FED-5v. After the first one had a problem with its curtains, I bought another body on eBay and mounted the Industar-61 from my broken FED-5v on it. I also had a small external lightmeter I bought online I still had to try.

While walking around town I passed by a few people getting into a newish G-Class (it'll always be a Geländewagen or G-Wagen to me). Apart from the fact I'm not a fan of SUVs or off-roaders (unless they're actually used to go off-road), I always found the modern G-Class quite a silly car.

Also had an early lunch at 11:30 because the sun is out, I have a fresh roll of 24 exp. Foma 100 loaded in my FED-5v, I might go for a nice walk if I find the right inspiration. 📷

Today's lunch, Italian-British fusion. Spaghetti with ragù (kind of like the thing Spaghetti bolognese tries to imitate) and some Piri-piri sauce to give it some kick. A cup of Fortnum's Chai blend with a splash of milk. I look forward to any complaints it's not a traditional Italian lunch.

Sometimes my work days are weird.

I wasn't tired enough to spend time tinkering with webservers during working hours, so I decided to finally fix a few quirks of my own landing page, after I had to rebuild the server last year and restore an outdated backup.

Here is a good comparison: left is Lucky C200, right EK Vision3 250D AHU (shot at 320 ISO) Same camera, lighting and scene, probably different aperture and shutter speed. Both rolls developed in the same tank, DSLR scanned and inverted using default presets. (Minolta XG-2, Asanuma 35-105mm f/3.5)

Ok, let's try to do some C-41 dev, I shot these 2 rolls this afternoon during the carnival celebrations in my hometown. First time I shoot Lucky Color 200, and first time I shoot respooled Vision3 250D AHU, we'll see what comes out.

This is the final result, soon to become my lunch. And to prove I'm one of the least Italian Italians, with the excess boiling water (from the kettle, not from the pot!) I made myself a cup of black coffee, American style, to enjoy with my pasta.

I was trying to revive an old laptop (had to burn a CD-R), and I had to make a Xubuntu bootable drive from Windows I used BalenaEtcher, but was not impressed: why do I have to install a 100+MB program that phones home to write an image to a USB drive? I miss Unetbootin, it was great when it worked

UPS is retiring their MD-11s: I have conflicting feelings about that plane. I always despised the DC-10 for all its design flaws, and the MD-11 was its last iteration, a 737-MAX-style "modernization" cash grabbing exercise from MD. Still, it's a piece of aviation history, for better or for worse.

To be fair, at the moment I always carry with me a Konica C35, now loaded with the roll of Harman Phoenix II I bought in London last august, so I'm already trying new a film stock 😜
