Today saw the largest earthquake of 2026 (so far): a M7.5 near Tonga, with moderate shaking. Residents of Tonga were told by authorities to evacuate in case of a tsunami, even though the US Tsunami Center said it was safe. Read our post to find out why both groups might have been right. βοΈ π§ͺ

Great signal on my Raspishake seismometer following the big M6.0

in Italy. Fortunately it was 400 km deep. The seismic waves arrived approximately 2.5 mins after origin time at my Raspishake located in Herne, Germany, 1300 km away from the epicenter! βοΈπ§ͺ
