Over 120 cranes. Excited to move into such a beautiful blue color!

Today is day 4, and I folded 50 cranes just today! 115 total. I folded a crane in under 2 minutes today, but it wasn't as beautifully folded as my other cranes. It's much easier if I guide the paper to follow creases, rather than trying to force it. The quality of the initial creases matters a lot.

Day 3 of my Senbazuru journey, I made around 15 origami cranes. Not quite my goal of 25 a day, but I'm around 65 total now. I'm getting kind of tired of the green paper, even though green is a beautiful color. I yearn to fold different colors. I am not folding each crane in around 3 minutes!

On my 2nd day of folding Senbazuru, I folded 40 cranes, bringing my total to 50. Maybe I can average 25 a day, and be done in 40 days! Senbazuru was popularized by Sadako Sasaki, a child who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, who is said to have completed one before her death from Leukemia.

I decided to fold a Senbazuru (千羽鶴), or 1000 paper cranes. They say that a wish is granted to anyone who can fold 1000 in one year! I felt like it would be a good exercise in mindfulness, and help me to avoid doomscrolling and get a heartfelt wish. Day 1 was a humble 10 cranes, just 1% of my goal.

I finished preparing 60 Goshinmai (Sacred rice pouches) for the December month and New Years season 🙏🏼 When I finished, I humbly requested they be blessed by Kami-sama🙇🏻‍♂️

I finally have my Shinto Kamidana set up, with Goshinmai from my local Konkokyo church. It’s serene, beautiful, and precious!

Moving back to the US from Japan & figuring out what on earth to do w/ things I can't relocate and how best to navigate so many recycling categories, schedules, and boundaries has shown me even more the stereotype of minimalism/tidiness in Japan. i think it's very telling that when marginalized people give up on political candidates, they still have to figure out how to keep living and advocating for themselves and their communities. meanwhile, when liberals give up on the marginalized, they think it's a pass to say slurs.

Y’all, I can make this conversation about Gavin Newsom easier on my end. I will not support anyone who is openly anti trans and openly against unhoused people. You can tell me all your reasons for supporting him, and I will simply say this. Explain why your rights are more important than theirs.

We’re painted as stupid, selfish and a host of other things, all for asking people not to vote for someone who wants our rights removed. It so many people, and it’s coming from all sides.

In terms on gender, I identify first and foremost as “transsexual.” Transsexual girl and then woman, specifically, as the quality of my transsexualism rather than as a separate identity. They’re synthetical, not stacked.

It's not about wasting time, it's about winning. Sacrifice us (trans people) and Trump has 2 whole years to find another voting block to demonize and poison. We stand together, or we fall. Shutting up, and telling each other to shut up, as people promise to hurt us is not a path to victory.

Every single person who thinks a trans person should just pipe down until we restore democracy is, in my view, an enemy of democracy. I’m not doing it.

We are a central issue because we have been made a central issue. Propaganda works, and it has worked on the perception of us. Accepting that propaganda on its own terms, and then using it against us to win votes is fascist. Newsom is part of the problem. He will not be the solution.

I do care. Because I want a future where we can all live safe, fulfilling lives. I care about your vote, because we must build a coalition and win. We can find a candidate who won't throw any of us to the wolves. We can, we should, and we will.

Politics are a negotiation. We all have our own interests which we advocate for. My values will not let me support Newsom, as he is an existential threat to me and my people. If he is chosen as frontrunner, all those who stood behind and supported him must also bear culpability for their choice.

Because our transness is an innate part of who we are, we will inevitably win the war for our human rights. Those who stand against us cannot possibly outlast our will to survive. Even if they truly believe their cause is just, their reason for fighting will never be greater than our will to exist.

This is nothing short of evil and barbaric. As a previous client and victim of a faith-based therapy clinic, which tried to convert me to normalcy through a horrific blend of shame and induced self-loathing, I stand against this cruelty with every fiber of my being. There is no defense for this.
