Genius editor Thelma Schoonmaker is 86. I love her definition of editing: ‘Editing is really like plumbing a good deal of the time. You put two things together, and a current runs through it.’

Back in March I worked with Illogic Studios on the storyboards for an animated Christmas commercial for the French supermarket Intermarché. The film is out now and it is such a joy to see all the great reactions! 🎄

Have been going on something of a Beuville buying streak recently. I absolutely love the work of Georges Beuville but his books can be hard to come by, so I’m really happy that I was able to find all these!

Breaking down a film into a reverse storyboard, you see details you never noticed before. For example in Raiders, when Indy is down in the map room, soldiers come and shout at Sallah. I always thought they were shouting because he was trespassing. But that’s actually not what is happening-- (1/2)
