Link's banning is the tip of the iceberg of systematic issues that have been present since the beginning of Bluesky. You may not remember Black users leaving en masse because devs were ok with slurs in usernames but I do. Bluesky has a serious problem that's never been dealt with. It's time.

@aaron.bsky.team Bluesky needs to do better. You won't see this thread, or if you do, chances are you won't care or will think I'm just being petty and ridiculous. I've been here since before you were appointed though and I want this place to be BETTER. I want marginalised folks to be safe.

There aren't safe socials. I'm not naive enough to believe that but when Bluesky is banning Black users for having the temerity to stand up against transphobia in the C suite, there are some clear conclusions to draw. I'm going to continue to yell about this shit because it is NOT right.

Instead he has been permanently banned from the site while not even on the Bluesky PDS. The claims made about his actions have been proven to be invented by moderation. The text he supposedly wrote does not exist in his post history. Bluesky lied about an autistic Black man to justify banning him.

Link's extreme treatment by @safety.bsky.app shows gross inequality in how moderation is applied here. He has been permanently banned for supposedly doing something that multiple white users received 72hr suspensions for and if it had just been that, knowing Link he would have taken it on the chin.

The only conclusion to draw at this point is that the Bluesky moderation team and C suite are racist. They made an example of an autistic Black man and have never said a word despite overwhelming community support for Link. I spent a lot of time and energy advocating for this place and I regret it.
