Recovery teams will continue to visit homes and businesses this weekend impacted by the severe flooding that took place July 25 - 28. These quick in-person reviews of the damage could help get federal recovery assistance.

Outdoor Warning Sirens will sound today at 10AM for testing as they do on every first Tuesday of the month with a single tone alert signal.

The Air Quality Alert for Chicago has been extended through Saturday night, August 2nd. Reduce time outside and check on family, neighbors, seniors and vulnerable residents. If needed, you can request a well-being check by contacting 3-1-1 or if it's a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.

The City of Chicago's Office of Emergency Management & Communications (OEMC) is reviewing calls for service into 3-1-1 from the flash flooding event that occurred between Friday, July 25 and Monday, July 28. Visit chicago.gov/OEMC by August 3, 2025 to submit a survey.

Heat and humidity will begin to build from the west on Tuesday, with dangerous heat expected Wednesday through Thursday. While thunderstorms are expected to bring relief from the heat by late Friday, a slower arrival will mean continued heat into Friday.

Dangerous heat index values of 105 to 115 degrees are expected Wednesday and Thursday. This stretch of heat will also include very warm conditions Wednesday night and possibly Thursday night. Stay up to date on the latest forecast.

Drier and pleasant weather is expected today. However, dangerous heat and humidity will built into the area for Wednesday and Thursday. The chances for stormy weather then returns at the end of the week as a cold front approaches the region.

A line of storms is expected to track across the north half of IL late this morning into the afternoon. This line of storms may be in a weakening trend through mid-morning, but begin to re-intensify late this morning. Damaging winds and torrential rainfall will be the main risk.

Cooling Centers are open if you need to cool off. In response to this weekend's heat wave, the Garfield Community Service Center at 10 S. Kedzie will open as Cooling Center from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
