I know in a meta sense it's probably mostly due to changing attitudes towards smoking, but I like to headcanon that tobacco use fell off on Azeroth largely due to the fall of Lordaeron. A LOT of the game's tobacco-related items (and the only tobacco shop, in Stratholme) come from the region.

It's pretty cool that the Hallowfall Arathi's capital is called "Mereldar"! Mereldar was the sister of General Lordain, one of Thoradin's generals (and the namesake of Lordaeron). She was also one of the first humans to wield the light! There is a lake named for her in EPL too.

For me, prepatch marks the effective end of an expansion. We're a week away from the end of The War Within. An expansion that was a little uneven, and a little unfocused, but overall very, very good. With that in mind, I'll probably be posting some thoughts about different parts this week!

Fun fact for newer players who might not know: StarCraft Ghost was a cancelled shooter developed by Blizzard. There is a memorial to the game in WoW. A shrine in the Crumbling Wastes in Netherstorm, with flashing symbols that spell out “Nova”, the game’s protagonist.

Sick and slightly hungover is not a fun combination for a Monday, especially when I was the only one handling work for a while. Worth it though, great game last night.
