I’ve been working on this for a while. (I tried to find Bobbie more than a decade ago and failed.) Please do give it a read.

Reading Herbert Read's Phases of Poetry and his example of a ballad, given in full, is Sir Hugh which is horribly antisemitic. He clearly didn't care or maybe even notice. And apparently neither did Virginia & Leonard Woolf who ran Hogarth Press. Upper class Brits in the 20s.

Was talking with a friend and said I'm not interested in true crime but then realized I actually am but only if it's more than a century old. All over Victorian murders. Exceptions for unusually interesting cases like Black Dahlia and Zodiac.

When I get my hair cut I live in dread of questions. Today she asked if I wanted a life and huh? Been going to this place about three years and nobody has ever asked that. And I didn't understand her explanation. As long as my hair is shorter when I leave than when I came in then she did a good job.

One thing I like about Evil Dead 2 is it starts the exact second the previous film ended. I'm not aware of any other sequel that does this though I feel sure there must be a few.

The book is great, would love to see this. There was a DVD at one point. Not streaming last time I checked but that was a year ago.

I can't remember the details, and can't find them now, for my favorite Robert Redford anecdote, but: When Indecent Proposal was being discussed, someone asked a film critic if she would sleep with Robert Redford for $1 million, and she replied, "Yes, but where would I get the money?"

Just saw a cookbook of recipes from "the world of HP Lovecraft" and I can't think of much that's less enticing. Would prefer my food not watch me while I choke it down and go slowly mad.

It's not that I'm such a good Fortnite player as that most others are pretty clumsy. If I pit in more effort I'd win more often. But it's really an unwind thing for me.

So this Fortnite match I accidentally landed away from my squad. Another team of three came up the stairs and I thought I'm screwed but I took them all out. Was at 20% health and looking for healing items ran into two more and eliminated them as well lol.

A friend from Philadelphia really dislikes catfish which is probably my favorite fish. I've know some other people who did and hard to imagine why. Though my friend knows catfish are bottom feeders and wondered if that influenced her.

Back on one of my periodic ghost story binges and I'm always surprised at the info dug up. "This is a 1923 collection that hasn't been read for decades. 7 copies exist. Here's a full bio of the author and a publication history. The ebook is $4."

For some reason I got an email from a restaurant promoting a 22 ounce steak and damn that's a lot. Even during my skinny days I would have struggled with that. This isn't even remotely tempting and not only because I eat beef about once a month.

Guess it's good I finally unfollowed my right wing sorta friend yesterday. All the crazy was ok but then he started getting hateful and his first racist post was the final straw. I'm sure he's full on ranting about Democrats now.

I read this article and it's like those people who figured out a glitch to collect thousands of bottlecaps for a prize trip to the Bahamas. Only they probably didn't figure it out correctly.

33 years ago today - on September 5, 1992 - BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES premiered. Here's wishing a very happy anniversary to one of the finest shows ever produced, and to the amazing creative talent - the writers, artists, performers, and more - who crafted it all. Salut!

So SUV in front of me pulls up to a green light and just stops. Light still green, never changed. Don't know if driver thought it was red, didn't know where to go or what. I never blow my horn any more (due to road rage incidents) but did then. He started making hand gestures I couldn't figure out.

It's like seeing 1950s photos/film of John Cage making some of the weirdest, most radical music ever while wearing a white shirt & tie and sporting a buzzcut. Looks like he's taking a break from some physics lab.

Missed Bandcamp Friday once again. Despite all the emails in the morning I forget until about time to go to bed. Last night I remembered but then realized how much listening time it would take to decide so skipped it. Maybe next time I'll decide a day or two in advance.

Saw Ben Wheatley's new film Bulk last night, made in secret, using obsolete S-VHS cameras, iPhones & VFX made from Airfix kits ordered off the internet. The end credits, hand-drawn by Wheatley, offer instructions on how to do the same at home if you want to. This is the anti-AI art we need.

During summers in college I worked at a furniture moving company. We did this in three-person teams and customers frequently approached me as the boss which I wasn't. Eventually realized it was because I was the white guy and they just assumed that meant boss.

My grandfather loved watermelon. Actually I think he really loved the ritual - thumping them to find the right one, spreading newspaper on the table, getting knife and salt ready, the careful slicing, spitting seeds onto the grass.

The *movie* won't be using AI. It can't. Another attempt to make this sound like AI is just a force separate from people making decisions. Plus it's not a lost movie. I have two Blurays of it. It was re-edited without Welles' input and most of that footage destroyed on purpose by the studio.

So I was making a turkey burger and remembered if you add an egg it compensates for the dryness. Turns out one egg is way too much for that amount of turkey. So quickly made bread crumbs and then while cooking was very careful so it didn't fall apart. And it turned out great! Will try again.
