Grand Slam Mexico was super. Energetic and felt special. Can't really be denied that we are in another great era of AEW right now. Energized crowds, DEEP roster, lots of characters clicking up and down the card, good feuds, top notch bell-to-bell action every week.

AEW positioning itself as the pro-immigrant, pro-Mexico promotion in contrast to MAGA interlopers WWE is really smart. #AEWGrandSlamMexico

The Fed makes a heavy-handed incursion into their culture and buys up one of their historic promotions; AEW comes in showing cultural deference and respect with an openness to collaboration. Not hard to see what the more sustainable long-term play is.

There’s an argument to be made for the 2022 Anarchy in the Arena being the last time (apologies) “the feeling” was truly felt. There could potentially be an argument for the 2025 AITA being the moment where AEW finally delivered (after years of talking about it) on properly restoring said feeling.

Double or Nothing was an excellent show. Main event was my MOTY so far, AITA was the best one they’ve done and an XL shit ton of fun, women’s Owen final was class, and stretcher and Continental matches were also great too. One of AEW’s best PPVs to date, probably one of the best PPVs period.

One could argue that AEW spent most of 2023 and into 2024 catering exactly to those fans, which led to a substantative loss of viewership and live attendance numbers. This year, AEW has returned to its basics, with an offer that does not try to ape WWE, and their KPIs are slowly improving. 🤼

For all the talk of “Tony fumbled” from the dumbest people in the world, this is truly a case of fumbling. Ace is excellent, brings years of experience and is still in his 20s. How can you not strap the rocket to him, especially after what happened to his tag partner?
