Coventry and Dresden have been twinned since 1959, having promoted reconciliation and understanding between people. German President Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender met with school children from the Coventry-Dresden exchange, military personnel, veterans and local mayors.

With a speech evoking Oasis and Heinrich Heine, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier addressed members of both Houses of Parliament at the Palace of Westminster today, the first German head of state to do so since 1986.
