I’d love someone to take all the famous alleged photos of Bigfoot and photoshop them into one single picture so that we can see the whole darn blurry-ass family.

They say our culture lacks coming-of-age rites but honestly I think a boy becomes a man when he realises Scorsese is superior to Tarantino.

Picked up a newspaper for my dad and it feels different nowadays, carrying a paper through town. A little old-fashioned but also a little aristocratic, like walking around with a riding crop. You feel a cut above the smartphone masses, almost as if you’re on a penny farthing.

How a Leicester City mug ended up on Neighbours
Social media users were mystified over how the mug had travelled 10,490 miles to Ramsay Street.

Found this today. Having three big gigs occur close to each other we decided to set about the mildly ambitious August Tour Of Leicester. The upside being we could produce one big poster for all three gigs. An incredible August, amongst the best of my life now I think about it.

Idea for a tv drama called LEMONFALL that’s about life in a small American town. The hook is that a lemon is guaranteed to fall on someone’s head every scene. I feel that’s the promise from the writer to the audience.

Moved this bed and mattress at my parents’ house. It’s probably from the 1940s and belonged to my mum’s boss at Leicester uni library. It looks like something Bertie Wooster might collapse on or a young TS Eliot. Very well made, ‘Maples & Co’, who were around since 1841 but went bust in ‘97.

Endorsed. Yes, I would say that, wouldn't I, given I'm written an essay in it as well? Considering what Tolkien's creative process can offer a writer today.

Just picked up my author’s copy of Writing The Magic, sent to me by Dead Ink Books. Always get a kick out of seeing me words in ink; this time an essay rather than a story. Some wonderful authors in this one. If you want to write fantasy you could do a lot worse than check this book out.

You wanna write? Here’s my perhaps off-the-beaten-path advice: go to the same pub regularly (or work there). Let the regulars talk to you. You’ll find out about people. After a couple pints they’ll show you their inner world like it was a new tattoo. And there’ll be stories too.

there are so many more interesting things in the world to do than litfic vs genre. digging at your genitals with rusty kitchen shears. jumping out of a window 108 stories up & listening to the wind build in your ears before landing with a sound like a bag of wet tomatoes being shot out of a cannon

I always thought that moment when Julius Caesar stood in front of the Roman people as Mark Anthony kept offering to put a crown on his head, the pair of them checking the crowd’s reaction, was dumb as heck but I could honestly see Trump and Vance doing it tomorrow.

I’ve decided on my Muppets Mulholland Drive. (Spoilers) In the first half Laura Harring (Rita) is the one lone human in a cast of muppets. Then, right after the box scene, Naomi Watts (Diane Selwyn) is the only human. I trust we’re all agreed on this.
