Reason 99,999,999 why the Steam Deck is the ultimate emulation device: You can map touchscreen inputs to button pushes for DS/3DS emulation. I'm using the back buttons to swap beams and quick enter morph ball mode, which is a touchscreen only function.

Apparently I'm playing the Metroids again in the lead up to Prime 4. Not my speediest trip through Metroid Dread, but man what a game. I can't believe it is going to be 4 years old soon. I hope MercurySteam has at least one more Metroid in them!

We deserve Switch 2 editions of Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime Remastered. Just updates to enable 4K resolution and faster loading times. Thats all we need!

Never have enough good things to say about Super Metroid. It's incredible how far off the path you can go, how much you can sequence break and do anything in any order, and it's impossible to break. Perfect post-Silksong refresher.

The Switch 2 SNES CRT filter goes SO hard. I've played Super Metroid dozens of times, but only ever as pixel art on a modern LCD display. This is a lovely new experience.

The Alabaster Dawn demo has done everything it needs to get my hype levels up. It feels like CrossCode 2 in all but name. Cannot wait for a release date!

I beat Silksong today, got two endings. I'm glad there's still more for me to do, the gift that keeps on giving! Feels bittersweet to be nearly at the end of a 7 year journey, but man, what a game. It just keeps growing, and never in a way that made me groan and yearn for the end. Masterpiece.

I walked 25 miles in 10 hours today to raise money for Age UK! The farthest and longest I've ever walked before, not something I could have ever considered doing a few years ago. I can't walk, my feet are in agony and I have 5 blister plasters on, but well worth it!

Not sure how to word this, but this feel like a pretty unprecedented time for me. Long-awaited follow ups to some of my all-time favourite games, finally releasing? I don't remember what it's like to not yearn endlessly... might I finally be satisfied?

17ish hours into Silksong, the game so far has been perfect. It's different enough from Hollow Knight in the combat and mechanics that it feels novel, it's been challenging in a way that feels fair and rewarding and there is constantly so much to find and do. Expectations met and exceeded.

Silksong finally releasing reminded me of some Hollow Knight pixel art I did a few years ago!

Kirby Air Ride was definitely a "you had to be there" kind of game. If you played it on the GameCube, you get it. You understand why it's good. If you've never even seen it before, I can understand why you might feel underwhelmed!

I hope PlatinumGames has Switch 2 patches planned for all its exclusive games. Cereza and the Lost Demon has such a specific & considered artstyle, it's a shame it sometimes gets lost in a low resolution, overly pixelated image - especially in handheld mode.

Had a wonderful weekend of seeing family & friends, and spending a night in a tent!

Mina the Hollower on Switch 2 has a 120hz option! That seems to be docked and handheld too... Hopefully when they send out the Kickstarter rewards, I'll be able to choose Switch 2 as my platform of choice!

I feel like this + the Metroid Prime 4 FanExpo demo is giving me hope for a decent Nintendo presence at Gamescom.

I was excited for the Switch 2 to be my new indie machine, with a lovely big screen and 120hz displaty. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound running at 30fps on brand new hardware is disappointing. I wonder if this is Nintendo's fault for being cagey with dev kits?

Third party performance and visuals are still a huge, huge compromise if you're playing on the switch 2, moreso than I'd have liked to see on the new hardware. Low resolution textures and models, loads of aliasing, shaky framerates, probably launching at full price too - not off to a good start!

Gotta say, a partner Direct featuring Red Dead Redemption 2, Hades 2 1.0 shadowdrop, Death Stranding and Metaphor Refantazio would probably be the best one there's ever been. Now we just need Konami's Castlevania and Blades of Fire to show up...

Nintendo delayed the announcement of the winners of the Japanese 5th Nintendo Switch 2 lottery to August 4th because of the tsunami warning. Yeah there is no way in hell that we get a Direct date today.

I hope Nintendo does more free resolution boost patches for games. Metroid Prime Remastered and Metroid Dread would be really lovely at 4k!
