In public records requests, Fi2W found contract language confirming that Portland Police Bureau is handing over its data to the same investigative database ICE uses to find immigrants. This evidence of data-sharing and collaboration between police and ICE undermines the city’s sanctuary provisions.

Excited to launch our new series Surveilled and Sold, which we've all been working hard on for the past few months at @fi2w.org. Our reporting fellow Narimes Parakul explores: How effective are Portland’s sanctuary city policies when ICE can access surveillance data to track immigrant communities?

All of Portland’s 130 automated license plate readers (ALPRs) feed into one network, recording what streets you take to go to work, school, places of worship, medical care, etc. Those details are then stored in a database with little to no oversight. Who’s accessing this data? Who does this harm?
