Defeating the Queen Metroid the easy way.

Picked up Custom Robo several months ago and finally checking it out. I never played any of these but this game rocks. Nice little 1 on 1 skirmishes that run great. Reminds me of something Sega or Capcom would have made at the time.

Star Soldier (N64) is a nice shooting game that no one would have given a second look at if it wasn't the only game of its type on the platform. Sometimes it's hard to follow the action, but there are cool visual effects and the end credits theme song rules. My first finish of the New Year!

Picked up some new FC Disk games over the last few months after telling myself I was probably not going to buy anymore since them actually working is a bit of a crap shoot. But my local game shop has tons of them and according to him I'm like the only person buying these things.

My list of games that I rolled the credits on this year. I played some great stuff this year! Highlights include Expedition 33, Phantasy Star 4 (new to me), Death Stranding 2 and DK Bananza.

Once upon a time you could get Wii Fit U for "free" by buying one of these. Did anyone actually use this thing? I did a bit... Probably also walking around with a 3DS to get coins at the same time.

I finished Other M today for the first time in 15 (!!) years. I kind of loved it. There are moments that drove me nuts and the story is completely bonkers, but these guys swung for the fences. History has proven it didn't work out for them but I admire the attempt to do something huge with Metroid.

Put Rudolph on tonight and my teenage daughter says at one point "I can't believe this is the kind of TV people actually used back then" 😩

Over the summer I got a whole box full of VHS for $10 off FB marketplace. Dude was yelling his head off at someone when I did porch pick up. Anyway it had a sealed Frosty the Snowman in there so no better time to watch that.

Chameleon Twist is a boring and clumsy N64 platformer with a handful of unique ideas. I think I've about had enough.

As you likely saw in the book, my next project with @nfpublishing.bsky.social will be Hand-Drawn Game Guides: Mega Man 2! I'll be starting on it in January, and plan on working on it for the full year. I'm excited to work on this legendary title!

A lot changes in a week. I finished this last night. First off I cannot believe that was the ending. This game has moments of greatness and mostly awesome bosses, but the overall structure and pacing is unfortunately a mess.

I watched this tonight and loved it. EGM was a special magazine and easily my favorite of the bunch during its run. Some fantastic old trade show footage and lots of great insight.

Nice to see these rolling in! I haven't seen the Wily sticker in person yet and despite the fact I chose the size and set up the file for it, it looks larger than I thought!

Finished playing through this ice area of Prime 4 and this game rules so far.

I tried Vectorman forever ago and hated it. It's actually not too bad. There's some really nice effects work and the control is pretty tight but the running and shooting is a bit of a mess. Aimless level design too. It ain't Gunstar.

Feels strange to hold the finished product. Hard not to reflect on the whole year+ to get here. Drawing through a slipped disc, PT, juggling other projects, FT job, family, losing our dog. It was a lot. I just wanted to make the best Mega Man book I could. I hope you enjoy it.

Kero Blaster rules. I had been curious about this game for a long while and seeing that it's currently 3 bucks on Switch I decided to try it. Surprisingly fun story and lots of great blasting. Cool bosses and music. And more game here than you'd think. Worth a look!

Early concept for AVGN 8-Bit. It's not too far off from the final cover. I miss the snake a lot, but we needed to keep elements separate to move around for all of the different formats. I had him looking a little closer to modern James here. We made him look more heroic as well.

In MM1, there some odd pixels where you can wiggle and various effects happen, notably credits warp with super specific setups. Most often the game just resets but you can get lots of different things to spawn in, like one of my favorites, the Yellow Devil. Make a savestate and see what you can get.

According to Wikipedia, today is the 20th anniversary of The 1UP Show. I choose to believe this is true. I miss this work. More, I miss my old coworkers. Still the best and most fun job I ever had. I’ll let Jane and Eric’s killer tune race through my mind today.
