Bomb Man as he appears in HDGG: Mega Man. I thought how can I make a guy who throws bombs flashy? So yeah, I made him a baller. This one is obvious! I also made him a little larger and heftier than Bomb Man usually is. I was thinking how E Honda is big but still fast!

I just received the "Hand-Drawn Game Guides" book on Mega Man, by @heyphilsummers.bsky.social! It came with all these goodies! We should support efforts like this. There's a real charm to hand-drawn guides! (I know that seems ironic coming from me, who runs VGMaps, full of screenshot maps...)

A view of "Monsteropolis" from HDGG: Mega Man. We decided the throwback name to the original manual would be fun & Capcom approved. I looked over Mega Man X maps for inspiration, and the layout was built around the boss placements on the select screen.

It took me 250 hours to make the Metroid book. Anyone in any field, especially artists, log your time. It's the only way you'll start to learn how long it takes you to do something.

This is a perfect companion to a Metroid playthrough. It helps guide you without holding your hand too much, and I used it in my own recent trip through the game:

Picked up Custom Robo several months ago and finally checking it out. I never played any of these but this game rocks. Nice little 1 on 1 skirmishes that run great. Reminds me of something Sega or Capcom would have made at the time.

Star Soldier (N64) is a nice shooting game that no one would have given a second look at if it wasn't the only game of its type on the platform. Sometimes it's hard to follow the action, but there are cool visual effects and the end credits theme song rules. My first finish of the New Year!

Picked up some new FC Disk games over the last few months after telling myself I was probably not going to buy anymore since them actually working is a bit of a crap shoot. But my local game shop has tons of them and according to him I'm like the only person buying these things.

My list of games that I rolled the credits on this year. I played some great stuff this year! Highlights include Expedition 33, Phantasy Star 4 (new to me), Death Stranding 2 and DK Bananza.

Once upon a time you could get Wii Fit U for "free" by buying one of these. Did anyone actually use this thing? I did a bit... Probably also walking around with a 3DS to get coins at the same time.

I finished Other M today for the first time in 15 (!!) years. I kind of loved it. There are moments that drove me nuts and the story is completely bonkers, but these guys swung for the fences. History has proven it didn't work out for them but I admire the attempt to do something huge with Metroid.

Put Rudolph on tonight and my teenage daughter says at one point "I can't believe this is the kind of TV people actually used back then" 😩

Over the summer I got a whole box full of VHS for $10 off FB marketplace. Dude was yelling his head off at someone when I did porch pick up. Anyway it had a sealed Frosty the Snowman in there so no better time to watch that.

Chameleon Twist is a boring and clumsy N64 platformer with a handful of unique ideas. I think I've about had enough.

As you likely saw in the book, my next project with @nfpublishing.bsky.social will be Hand-Drawn Game Guides: Mega Man 2! I'll be starting on it in January, and plan on working on it for the full year. I'm excited to work on this legendary title!
