🗑️WASTE MANAGEMENT IN CALAIS In Calais, living sites where people on the move are surviving are excluded from waste collection facilities. This creates unsanitary & undignified living conditions, leading to health risks such as diseases transmitted by pests & insects.

In northern France, public transportation is free in the areas of Calais and Dunkirk. Yet people on the move regularly face racial profiling, police checks, arrests, and barriers when trying to access these services.

JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2026 AT THE FRANCE-UK BORDER Over the past two months, our member organisations have continued to provide essential support, working to uphold the autonomy and dignity of people on the move who are surviving at the border.

SUPPORT OUR TENT FUNDRAISER ⛺ At the France-UK border, more than 1,000 people are currently surviving outside, without safe shelter. Together, La Capuche Mobilisée, Refugee Women’s Center & @utopia56.bsky.social are launching a crowdfunder to buy urgently needed tents.

In Calais, people on the move face routine evictions & confiscation of their belongings. Authorities also conduct large-scale operations in Calais & Dunkirk, dismantling entire living sites and bussing people away from the border.

Winter in northern France brings freezing temperatures, rain, and wind, severely impacting the physical & mental health of people on the move forced to sleep rough.

In #Calais & #Dunkirk French & UK authorities have built hostility through fields cleared, trees cut down, fences, concrete walls, barbed wire, drones, thermal cameras and advanced security fencing. For people on the move, this means facing severe rights violations.

❗LARGE-SCALE EVICTION IN CALAIS❗ On Friday 30 January, French authorities forcibly removed 600-700 people, including families and unaccompanied minors, from the largest living site in Calais.
