A digital box set of my Cantus Orbis mixes from the last decade are now available for download. Four albums that focus on drone heavy/repetitive music written between the 5th / 15th centuries. I donāt own any of this so encourage you to take the āfreeā option:

Guess the Tory! I purchased this Van Morrison tee from a chazzer this morning, the assistant telling me it was donated by a (former?) Conservative MP who sings in a choir and was caught in the Brighton bombing. Answers on a postcard please! (Secretly hoping for Norman Tebbit)

Went to an honest-to-god record shop for the first time in years yesterday. Picked up what was probably the most played CD of my teens on LP: Lou B at his most soft-boi and Nick Drake-obsessed. Soundtracked a winter in 1994 like a warm fuzzy blanket.

On the subject of alternative Christmas albums, this is the one that makes La Monte Young, John Cage and Harry Partch sound like outtakes from Box of Delights:

If youāre of a certain vintage, itās happy big 50 to the eeriest, most evocative piece of music and TV intro of all time. I can hear it wafting in from my parents front room when I was meant to be asleep, the neon bottle floating in to view.

Most of my life was laser-focused around Hastings for one reason or another. Get togethers, break-ups, chips with my folks on the seafront. The old town is a place forever changing but always the same. Roberts felt like it might be the big brass pin holding it all together - Iāll be sad to see it go

Picked up a little Victorian oil today from Scottish landscape painter and ornithologist Edward Hargitt. Two kids teasing their playmate who is stuck in finishing lunch. I love how thereās an unspoken story behind it, like a page Tomās Midnight Garden, The Moondial or a long lost childrenās story.
