I spent an afternoon with Bernie Clifton once, in his dressing room at the Marina Theatre, Lowestoft, interviewing him as he prepared his props for that evening's show. Television has never fully captured the essence of this manic, fizzing, hilarious man. He is also, as RH says, an absolute sweetie.
