Father John Misty headlined Mariposa on Friday night. I'd never heard of him but now I cannot stop listening to the first song he performed, "I Guess Time Just Makes Fools of Us All." Something about the horns and the chord progressions. Mmm.

Tribute set right now for the Tragically Hip because it’s been ten years since Gord Downie died. I went to a big public place to watch the last concert and ended up weeping my eyes out on (very kind) strangers. Learning Hip songs helped make me feel like a Canadian.

A favourite thing about the Mariposa Folk Festival: seeing dozens upon dozens of well-loved babies and toddlers. I smiled and waved at a very small person who made my day by smiling and waving back.

Our new contractor loves our weird little house and plans to do everything he can to preserve its handmade vibe. Instead of replacing all the double-paned windows with vinyl ones, he's going to pull them out, sand and refinish the wooden sashes, and fix up the jambs before putting them back in.

Currently mending a hole in the sleeve of the first sweater (and project) I ever made. Cranked it out in two and a half weeks in November of 1989. Yes I still had some of the original yarn left. And people ask why I hang on to all my project leftovers. That's why.

Tonight was the preview for all the artists on this weekend's art tour. There were 20 artists in our front room admiring 60 of my handknits and my heart was (is) so full that at every other stop I had to hold back tears, I was so verklempt. Breathtakingly talented people on this island.
