I updated my #charma fic Romanticide on Saturday, but then I immediately buried the post in retweets of Maid Char. 😂 So here's a little except from Chapter 5.

GUYS, I DID IT. I DID THE THING. Garma calls Char kind, and it sort of rattles him. Char also tries to help Garma get over his... issue. This chapter has something for everyone. Dialogue, fluff, strong emotions, more weird smut. (Some day, I swear they'll actually leave their dorm room.)

Okay, I finished the chapter for real. I know it's finished because I am so thoroughly, completely, emotionally exhausted -- not from the act of writing itself, but from channeling Char's mental state. How TF am I gonna survive this whole fic, especially "the misfortune of your birth?"

Look at this loser, who was like "I finished Chapter 5 of my fic" last Saturday, and is now furiously revising and adding to it after a few days away from the word processor. It's almost like removing the pressure of not being done gave me new motivation. Whoops. Brains are weird.

For the record, it was compelled honesty. Truth serum, in vino veritas, just plain getting cornered and having no way out but the truth - anything that forces or enables a character to admit something they'd normally hide or lie about is so interesting.

LRT I had cataracts 2 years ago, about 20 years younger than most people tend to get them. When I had surgery to fix them, it destroyed my close-up vision. I don't see my phone screen super well, which results in lots of stupid typos. I am really self-conscious about it.

honestly don't know how any writer who's been copy-edited still has an ego. one second you'll be like "actually that 'mistake' is foreshadowing for time loop #3" and the next you'll realize the manuscript you sent to all your peers and friends contains the phrase "him horses"
