This trilogy turning up in pandasbooksandrecords makes me think about how much better the continuations of franchises are handled by novelists than screen writers. Just look how they bummed up the Star Wars third trilogy…! And other franchises too…

Not saying it's the best book ever, but it's close. Also - much better than this month's book club book, which i'm supposed to be reading.

Out for a walk in the park - after a morning of WRITING. Yep - I'm actually writing again. Not because anyone has asked me to or wants me to...! Just because i had a story i wanted to start. It feels good to be back, just a few hundred words a day - something people might want to read - some day!

Sue Twist visiting the bookshop yesterday made me think that, actually, rather than Billie Piper suddenly popping up at the end of last season's Dr Who - it would have been funnier and kind of made much more story-sense, had Sue made a surprise reappearance during that cliffhanger regeneration...!

Levenshulme and Dr Who legend Sue Twist popped into pandasbooksandrecords today!

Dr Who season 1 in the shop today - exactly 21 years since the first episode was broadcast. It might be a bit bummed up these days but it was pretty good then!

We’ve had a large collection of esoterica and magicky books brought to the shop! Effie would be very pleased!

Also, my Society of Authors subscription has gone up - i've just learned as they scoop the money - to £145 a year. I've been a member for thirty years and I'm not entirely sure i get much out of it? @societyofauthors.bsky.social

For four months I’ve written hardly anything. Longest break in 36 years. Not because I want to - no one seems to want it. I’ve been publishing 4 books a year and making less than the average living wage. It's impossible be a writer unless you’re rich or a celeb or a bestseller or an A bleeding I.
