So I took a deep breath and proposed myself as the artist. I sent a whole batch of pictures to everyone involved. I told them: I really want to do this. And I’m glad to say they agreed to it! I really hope you'll like the book.

When it was mentioned that the volume was to be illustrated – I suddenly became very bold. I really wanted to draw the pictures for this book myself. I could see it all very clearly, how it ought to be. Macabre, spooky and magical: capturing the essence of the show as I see it.

It was about this time last year – as autumn was setting in – that the brilliant Steve Cole and I set about writing our ‘1001 Nights in Time and Space.’ We knew it was to be a special Treasury of Doctor Who stories: a tapestry of retellings of our favourite tales from unusual or rare perspectives.
