I've been playing with a new craft...foil embossing. There are parallels between it and printmaking, simplifying a design down, knowing where to have lines and not, working away with a hand tool. The Choughs' Return (Riso). A Risograph print I made yesterday from a re-working of my original handprinted linoprint. The limited edition print (only 10) celebrates the return of the Choughs to the White Cliffs of Dover after an absence of over two centuries. haggytea.com

Today I'm off to Riso Club to turn this drawing of Lapwings (drawn with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and fineliner pens) into a Riso Print. I'm very excited and slightly nervous to see how it will turn out!!

NOT TO BE TAKEN. My Cyanotype Print made by laying my little green Victorian poison bottle on paper coated in UV sensitive chemicals in the sun. You can just make out some of the 'Not to be Taken' writing in mirror image running down the middle of the bottle.

Tetra Pak Print making has commenced. I'm making three postcard sized Prints for the Small Wonders exhibition at Margate Caves. The theme I've set myself is migration. It's truly wondrous to me that small animals can travel so far annually to reach UK shores.

Cedric Morris (the great Iris Breeder and Painter) described them as flowers possessing "elegance, pride and delicacy." This Cyanotype print was made from laying a real-life fresh Bearded Iris from my garden on paper coated with UV sensitive chemicals for hours in the sunshine.

I spent 4 feverish days in the sunshine on a deep-dive into Cyanotype recently, and I've created a new body of work, which I'm calling Little Treasures. Here's the first in the series, which is made from placing a real-life Poppy freshly picked from my garden onto the paper coated with chemicals.

My second linoprint commission for The Friends of The Westbrook & Stonebridge Pond is finished, a Grey Heron standing in the stream eating a European Eel. The most amazing day yesterday making my first ever Cyanotypes. I was lucky enough to be invited to a Faber Books event to take part in the workshop in celebration of the publication of Said the Dead by Doireann Ni Ghriofa.

The finished linoprint inspired by the chalk stream (The Westbrook) which meanders through my hometown of Faversham in Kent. Chalk streams are rare, crystal-clear rivers and streams fed by underground springs in chalk bedrock.

Of course I took the linoprint to its inspiration, Samphire Hoe and Samphire Hoe Tower. Such a unique place, a frontline between water and land and humans and nature throughout time. See my shop at haggytea.com for more about the linoprint.

A black and white linocut I've been working on. In many ways it is just as much of a work-out for the mind as a multi-colour linocut because you can't use colour to differentiate parts of the subject, so you have to think a lot more about shape and texture.

An interesting afternoon at the former St Augustine's Hospital site (a mental asylum in Chartham, Kent from 1872 to 1993 and now a housing estate). The remaining buildings are the Cemetery Chapel, the Reception building, the Chapel and the Water Tower (they are all now housing).

Coming to the Festival of Rats, Margate soon..... 'Overrun by Rats'. You may recognise this as the UK Royal Coat of Arms (Monarchy and HM Government). You may also recognise that instead of the usual Lions, it is populated with Rats. I can't think what the meaning behind this could possibly be.
