Visited the Rose Wylie exhibition at the RA yesterday, and was enraptured. The work is what this world of AI needs: handmade, painted from memory with thick textured oil paint, full of mistakes glued and painted over. Rose gets the work done. Her aim isn't realism or perfection.

The Barn Owl blocks are taking shape. I've marked this one up ready to get carving. I subscribe to the Multi-block method of Linoprinting so each layer (and colour) is printed from a separate block and then they're all registered to line-up. Maybe you'd like to learn how to do this......

For the Love of Print is on 2nd May!! A new Printmaker Hazel Mcintosh is taking part. Hazel studied Illustration at the RCA in the 70s and then worked as an Illustrator in the UK & Singapore. Hazel loves drawing from life and likes to develop the drawings of people, places & events into prints.

It is so heart-warming to receive photos of my linoprints in people's homes. I don't think I'll ever get over the amazement and joy of my art being in homes around the world. Me? Me with a formal art education that consists of one GCSE only!

Huge mixed emotions about posting one of these out to the USA today. I'd really like this to stop being true right about now, but if anything it seems truer than ever: abuse of power, corruption, abuse of women and girls, the ignoring of survivors, a lack of justice.....

After the success of the event in 2025, For the Love of Print returns for 2026 with not one but two fairs. The first will be on 2nd May and will bring together 26 Kent Printmakers. It will be a vibrant celebration of Printmaking with many new Printmakers from the 2025 event. Put it in your diaries!

Printing the next batch from an edition is very much like meeting your past self. Reading the notes I left myself when I finished the first batch is both amusing and baffling. However I've worked hand in hand with past Tina and the whole Sea Raven (Cormorant) edition is now printed!

The peel and reveal moment on my latest Tetrapak Print. I'll put up a nice still image of the print soon, but it's always fun to witness the magic moment the first print comes off the plate, and you get the euphoria of loving it or the dismay of not loving it. Luckily, this one gave me the euphoria.

Popped along to the Private View of the We Rise exhibition at the Fishslab Gallery in Whitstable tonight. Thrilled to see my Sea Raven linoprint has got a 🔴. The PV was packed and there was some great work! Well done to SOS Whitstable. It's on until 10th February so do go along if you can.

I think engagement here is pretty dead. Very hard to move the needle. I've read a few sensible articles about big decline in social media engagement lately. My recommendation is to blow a vuvuzela out of your window whenever you've done a new drawing. That's what I'm doing anyway.

Oh my goodness did I love Trinity Buoy Wharf. As someone who loves a Lighthouse/Lightship and the hull of a boat I was pretty much in heaven. Expect linoprints.

Attended the best online Portrait drawing session today. Armed with my Blackwing pencil I made some drawings I really like (a rare treat indeed). God, I love drawing.
